And you thought you were good! I found this great video about Half-Life and its main protagonist, Gordon Freeman. At first I thought it was a speed run, since the title, “Half-Life in 60 Seconds,” implied something of the sort.
Well, I was wrong. It’s even better than a speed run. Go check it out:

Is this what you’re talking about, Mike? I’m writing this post in reaction to shiny happy person (read: my boss) Mike’s comment on the E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial article. Let me quote him here for clarity’s sake:
Well, I did play this game back in the day. I never did like it then. I was too busy […]

The good thing about playing old video games is that you get to sift through a lot of FAQ sheets, tips and guides, and come up with solutions of your own to some gaming problems.
Recently, I researched the mechanics—and inadvertently some walkthroughs—of the Nintendo Entertainment System game Adventure Island to help me remember tricks I […]

Sure, Super Mario Brothers may be the best game that I’ve ever played on the console known as the Nintendo Family Computer, at least on this side of the world, on both counts, but nothing beats the fun and excitement that Adventure Island gave me when I was young … er.
Here I go again, looking […]

If there’s one game that satisfied my thirst for explosions and destruction, it was Missile Command. Of course, I’m talking about my 80s self, since there are now dozens—if not hundreds—of video games that can sate this craving.
Well, my 80s self is starting to rear its ugly head again, which is why I’ve been scouring […]

There’s a virtual gold mine of old games that you can play on your computer’s Internet browser—and even Digger has not been spared. Don’t get me wrong. Digger is a […]

Woot! I can still play Burger Time, thanks to the miracle of Flash animation.
For those of you who don’t know what Burger Time is, here’s a brief background: It’s a 1982 Japanese arcade game created by Data East Corporation for its DECO Cassette System.
In Japan, the game was originally released as, get this, Hamburger. Fortunately, […]

Although I remember playing both games, the first game (of my generation, that is) that went by the name Stronghold, released way back in 1993 by Strategic Simulations Inc., remains fresher in my mind. The “second” Stronghold came out in 2001.
I attribute this newfound strength in my frontal lobe to the availability of older games—and […]

Here I am, sitting in front of the computer and thinking about something cool to write about. I can’t seem to think of anything but all the gifts I’ve received since I was born, particularly gifts that have something to do with video games.
Why gifts? Because my birthday’s coming up. Egad! My birthday’s tomorrow and […]

Since we’re on the subject of old games (obviously, since this is Re:Retro), I think you might want to check out a year-old article I posted on my dusty old gaming blog:
Always wondered what it would feel like playing the video games of your youth? Understandably, the younger generation, those belonging to the age of […]
