Re:Retro

World’s smallest Pong clone

by Jonic Linley on February 8th, 2006

Those of you with an occular deficiency may not want to check this out. It can really get quite painful to play this game if you look at it for too long. If you don’t suffer an occular deficiency then go right on ahead and play it. You’ll probably have one by the time you’re finished…

The ever fantastic Guimp (the world’s smallest website) has rather cunningly squeezed Pong down into a really quite tiny 18 pixels square playing field.

The paddles are three vetical pixels, and the ball just one. Yep… It’s that small.

It’s playable, but only really after you dig the .swf file’s location out from the source code and load it directly in your browser window. Then it looks like this (at 1280*1024 resolution):

It’s a great idea, and I love the sound effect that plays when you score, but it could only ever exist for the novelty factor. I’d hate to play any kind of tournament on this thing. My eyes are still hurting.

Go and play it, if you can!

Also on Guimp is a tiny Pac Man, Asteroids and a type of Space Invaders game. Good fun if you’re about 30 pixels tall.
